Rotation resistant or non-rotation resistant

The most important factor in selecting the right wire rope for the job in hand is deciding whether a rope type is to be
rotation resistant or non-rotation resistant. This point needs to be considered very carefully as using the wrong rope type can have serious consequences, for example, shortened service life, changes in the rope structure, unintentional rope breaks.

Rotation resistant ropes
must be used for

  • the lifting of an unguided load on a single fall
  • the lifting of an unguided load on several falls at a great lifting height

Rotation resistant ropes can be used with and without a swivel.

Non-rotation resistant ropes
must be used for

  • the lifting of a guided load
  • the lifting of unguided loads on several falls at low lifting heights
  • the lifting of loads with right-handed and lefthanded ropes operating in pairs

Non-rotation resistant ropes must not be used with a swivel.

Rotation resistant

Rotation resistant DIEPA special wire ropes can be used on a wide range of lifting appliances.

Rotation resistant DIEPA special wire ropes can be used, for example, as a hoisting rope on mobile cranes, tower cranes, offshore- crane and deck cranes.

Diepa B-Series: universal use

Non-compacted outer strands

  • DIEPA B 40 (D1315) Ordinary lay
  • DIEPA B 43 – Ordinary lay with internal plastic component
  • DIEPA B 45 (D1315C)Lang lay
  • DIEPA B 48 Lang lay with internal plastic component

Compacted outer strands –
high breaking force

  • DIEPA B 50 (D1315Z) – Ordinary lay
  • DIEPA B 53 (D1315ZP) – Ordinary lay with internal plastic component
  • DIEPA B 55 (D1315CZ) – Lang lay
  • DIEPA B 58 (D1315CZP)Lang lay with internal plastic component

Compacted outer strands –
very high breaking force

  • DIEPA B 60 – Ordinary lay
  • DIEPA B 63 – Ordinary lay with internal plastic component
  • DIEPA B 65 – Lang lay
  • DIEPA B 68 – Lang lay with internal plastic component

Compacted outer strands –
extremely high breaking force

  • DIEPA B 70 – Ordinary lay
  • DIEPA B 73 – Ordinary lay with internal plastic component
  • DIEPA B 75 – Lang lay
  • DIEPA B 78 – Lang lay with internal plastic component

Please note

In the case of multi-layer spooling on the drum a lang lay rotation resistant rope with compacted outer strands has the capability of extending service life whereas ordinary lay rotation resistant rope is recommended when single-layer spooling.

In some circumstances, and for optimum wire rope performance, the application in question may necessitate the selection of a different rotation resistant or slightly rotation resistant DIEPA special wire rope.

Non-rotation resistant

Non-rotation resistant DIEPA special wire ropes can be used on a wide range of appliances.

Examples of applications for non-rotation resistant DIEPA special wire ropes are hoisting rope for indoor cranes, ladle  cranes, steel mill cranes, mobile harbour cranes and gantry cranes as well as luffing rope for cranes and rope for winching duties.

Diepa X- und H-Series: universal use

Non-compacted outer strands

  • DIEPA X 40 – Ordinary lay
  • DIEPA X 43 (P825) – Ordinary lay with internal plastic component
  • DIEPA X 45 (P825C) – Lang lay
  • DIEPA X 48 – Lang lay with internal plastic component

Compacted outer strands –
high breaking force

  • DIEPA X 50 – Ordinary lay
  • DIEPA X 53 (PZ371) – Ordinary lay with internal plastic component
  • DIEPA X 55 (PZ371C) – Lang lay
  • DIEPA X 58 – Lang lay with internal plastic component

Compacted outer strands –
very high breaking force

  • DIEPA H 40 (SKZ8) – Ordinary lay
  • DIEPA H 43 (SKZ8P) – Ordinary lay with internal plastic component

Compacted outer strands –
extremely high breaking force

  • DIEPA H 50 – Ordinary lay
  • DIEPA H 53 – Ordinary lay with internal plastic component

Please note

Due to the high stability of their rope structure non-rotation resistant ropes in ordinary lay have been used successfully both in single-layer and multi-layer spooling. In multi-layer spooling compacted outer strands are advantageous.

In some circumstances, and for optimum wire rope performance, the application in question may necessitate the selection of a different non-rotation resistant DIEPA special wire rope.
